Propery, Lives Saved by Apartment's Sprinkler System
(Owatonna People's Press, 10/02/2012 )
Fire officials say a single sprinkler head saved property and potentially a life or two when it contained a grease fire in a unit at Kay Knutson Apartments Tuesday night. A tenant was waiting for a pan of grease to heat up so he could prepare a meal when he looked over at his stove and saw the pan was engulfed in flames, according to apartment caretaker Doug Jones. The tenant grabbed the pan and set it in his sink, hoping to extinguish the fire, and even used salt to try to put it out. But before the man could think of another way to put out the fire, he found himself drenched.
